It is an alloy suitable for filling a mold in a molten state to obtain a casting blank of a certain shape and size.
According to the basic element classification, there are nickel-based, cobalt-based and iron-based. Cast superalloys are mainly used as turbine blades for gas turbines.
Among non-ferrous metal alloys, copper alloys, aluminum alloys, magnesium alloys, zinc alloys, etc. can all be used for casting. Non-ferrous metal castings are widely used in machine manufacturing, aviation, automobile, construction and other industries. Steel castings account for a very small share in the use of steel materials. Most steel plants supply steel in the form of steel, because most smelters and processing plants are located in the same place. Non-ferrous metal castings account for a large share (sometimes nearly half of them) in the use of non-ferrous metal materials, forming a huge and complex series of casting alloys. As a result, non-ferrous metal smelters often supply metal ingots with a certain chemical composition for subsequent processes to prepare various alloys; smelters and processing plants are often set up separately.
